Stripe accepts bitcoins, and Hacker News discusses it.

Some interesting debate over at Hacker News in light of Stripe accepting bitcoin.

Some comments are suprisingly calm and actually insightful, but other remarks are like this:
I find it hilarious how Bitcoin haters (like the ones we have here on HN) say it's never going to work, but then they spend hours every day trying to talk people out of using it.

I find it hilarious how Bitcoin cheerleaders say there aren't any downsides, and then spend hours every day posting "chargebacks aren't important" and "merchants will obviously pass all the savings on to consumers". YMMV.

In 2017 & 2018, many HIGH-PROFILE merchants (Microsoft, Steam, Stripe, Expedia) stopped accepting Bitcoin *specifically* due to high fees. I predict BTC's high fee situation will return with a vengeance, especially once next bull run begins to accelerate.

[China > US] International fund transfer - Any reason not to use bitcoin + stripe?

I live and work in China, but I send money back to the US once every few months. It's difficult to transfer money from China for a number of reasons (including Chinese government regulations). I recently had the idea to buy bitcoin locally and use a Stripe payment gateway on my website to accept these funds (Stripe accepts bitcoin payments and credits the amount valued in USD to the account holder). I gave it a shot and it worked well with a small amount (and a less than 1% fee from Stripe!).
Can someone tell me, is there a reason not to transfer money this way? I am not avoiding taxes in any way, as I pay income tax here and report everything earned back home (in the U.S.). I figure the means of transfer shouldn't matter, but I'm no expert.
Thanks for the help!

Dell, Steam, Reddit, Stripe, Circle, Microsoft, Fiverr, Satoshidice, Changetip, Expedia, and many more stopped accepting Segwitcoin, while Coinbase, Bitpay, coins.ph, satoshidice, tippr, purse.io, dark web all are adding BCH support. One Bitcoin is blooming, the other withering.
